🪱 Save Fred!

Team Work!

Today, we worked together on a fun team-building challenge called “Save Fred!”

Poor Fred the worm was stuck under his boat, and he needed our help! His life preserver had fallen off, and our mission was to get it back on Fred and safely get him back into the boat.

The tricky part? We could only use the tools provided! Students had to work together, communicate, problem-solve, and think creatively to save Fred.

Would your team be able to Save Fred? 🚤🪱

Seed Survivor Comes to School! 🌻🌱

We had an exciting day when the Seed Survivor trailer came to our school! We learned all about seeds, plants, and fossils through fun, hands-on activities. We discovered how plants grow, what they need to survive, and why plants are so important to our world.

One of our favourite parts was planting our very own sunflower seeds! 🌻 We can’t wait to watch them grow and see how big they get.

We also got to be designers and engineers! We followed the design process to create models of landscapes that could prevent erosion. We tested our ideas, made changes, and worked together to figure out what designs worked best.

It was a fantastic day filled with science, teamwork, creativity, and discovery! 🌱🔎 We had so much fun learning by doing!

🏅 Winter Olympics Bobsled Challenge! 🛷❄️

We celebrated the Winter Olympics with an exciting hands-on engineering challenge! 🥇 We became engineers and were challenged to design, build, and test our very own toy bobsleds.

We started by creating our designs and then worked together to build our bobsleds. Once they were ready, we took them to the track to see how well they would race! 🛷💨

Some of our bobsleds worked really well, while others needed a few changes. We tested, made modifications, and tried again to see if we could improve our designs.

We learned that engineers don’t always get things right the first time. Sometimes, the best way to solve a problem is to try, change, and try again!

It was a fun day filled with creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance, and STEM learning! 🛷🏆

Helping Harry! 🐾✨

Our class worked together to help Harry get a better view of the room! Students planned, designed, and built creative perches for our little critter. With teamwork, problem-solving, and lots of imagination, Harry now has the perfect spot to watch over us all! 💡🦎

🌱 Designing for Seed Travel

This week, we learned how plants send their seeds out into the world! We explored different ways seeds are dispersed—by wind, water, animals, and even by bursting open.

Then we became designers! Using the design process, we planned, built, and tested our own seed dispersal models. Some spun like helicopters, some floated, and others stuck to “animal fur” just like real seeds.

It was a fun mix of science, creativity, and problem-solving—and we discovered just how clever nature can be!

Ancient Society Dioramas

We learned about a variety of ancient civilizations such as Ancient Greece, Rome, China and Egypt. Our final project was to show our understanding in a diorama.
