🌍 Stories to Save the Earth

This week, our imaginations and creativity came together to celebrate our planet! We wrote stories about saving the Earth—filled with heroes, clever ideas, and ways to protect nature.

To go with our writing, we made colorful coffee filter art Earth characters. Using markers and water, we blended bright blues and greens, then added faces, arms, and legs to bring our little planets to life.

Our classroom is now full of Earths with big smiles and even bigger hearts—reminding us that we can all help take care of our world. 💙💚

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was so much fun this year! We enjoyed dressing up, carving pumpkins, and celebrating the end of our class novel Because of Winn-Dixie. To wrap up the story, we watched the movie and snacked on treats like Dump Punch, egg salad sandwiches, and cheese whiz sandwiches. It was the perfect way to celebrate both Halloween and the completion of our book!

The One and Only Ivan

We really enjoyed the story of the shopping mall gorilla which is actually based on a true story! Ivan spent 27 years inside a concrete cage before being moved to Zoo Atlanta. He was able to live with other gorillas for the rest of his life but always preferred humans because of how he was raised. Ivan lived until he was 50 which is rare for a gorilla in captivity. We very much enjoyed Bob, Stella and Ruby, the characters in the book, and we were eager to watch the Disney movie that recently came out. Did you know that like in the book the real Ivan actually loved to paint! We are going to read The One and Only Bob next!

As well as watching the movie we made “me-balls” and used the design process to build animal cages. Everyone agreed that this was the best day ever!

Because of Winn-Dixie Party

After reading Because of Winn-Dixie we wanted to recreate the party that the characters had in the story. We did lots of writing and talking about the story and made little puppets too! We enjoyed egg salad and peanut butter sandwiches, pickles and lozenges. We also hung streamers in the window. We wore our pjs as well for Halloween.

February is I Love To Read Month

All month our class has had the privilege of having guest readers share their favourite stories. We also made bookmarks and enjoyed a special treat!
