Festival du Voyageur ❄️🍁

Our students had a fantastic time learning about and celebrating Festival du Voyageur, a special Winnipeg tradition that celebrates French-Canadian and Métis history and culture.

We enjoyed learning about the voyageurs, exploring the sights and sounds of the festival, and experiencing some of the traditions that make this event so special. Of course, one of the highlights was enjoying maple taffy (tire sur la neige)—a sweet treat made by pouring warm maple syrup onto snow and rolling it onto a stick! 🍁

It was a fun-filled day of history, music, culture, and hands-on learning, giving students a chance to experience an important part of Manitoba’s heritage while having lots of fun along the way!

Cookies Through Time

 

Although the K-5 Christmas Concert had to be cancelled to due school closures and inclement weather, the students still wanted to show off all of their hard work! The grade 5 actors that are featured (and worked so hard memorizing all of their lines!) in this show are Landon Rivard, Tennessee Koop, Mila Berg, Piper Peters, and Skylar Bleznuk-Zary. Thank you to the staff that helped and supported our students in creating this show and (almost) making it happen. 

Celebrating Charlotte's Web!

 

Celebrating Charlotte’s Web! 🕷️📚

Our students have been immersed in the wonderful world of Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. As we read the story, we followed the friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte and talked about what makes a good friend—being kind, caring, supportive, and willing to help others when they need it.

We also became spider experts, researching spiders and discovering some fascinating facts about these amazing creatures. Students enjoyed learning about their characteristics, habitats, webs, and important role in our world. 🕷️🔎

To celebrate finishing this special book, we enjoyed a movie afternoon and some truly amazing snacks inspired by the story! 🐷🍿🕸️ It was a wonderful way to celebrate our reading journey and the lasting message of Charlotte’s Web: true friendship means caring about others and being there for them, no matter what. 

Our Visit to the Morris & District Centennial Museum

 

A Trip Back in Time 

Our students enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Morris and District Centennial Museum, where we stepped back in time and explored the many stories and treasures of our local community.

Students took part in a scavenger hunt, made a special little craft gift box, and enjoyed some delicious home baking. We explored all of the museum’s displays, with highlights including the old-fashioned schoolroom, sports memorabilia, tools, and rooms from a historic home.

It was a fun and hands-on way for students to connect with our local history and community, while discovering how life was different in the past. What a great day of learning and exploring!

🎃 Pumpkins, Math & Halloween Fun!

Our students had a spooktacular time celebrating Halloween! 🎃 They put their creativity to work by designing and carving their own pumpkins, turning each one into a unique creation.

We also had some fun with pumpkin math, exploring counting, measuring, comparing, and problem-solving using our pumpkins. Of course, no Halloween celebration would be complete without dressing up in our favourite costumes!

It was a fun-filled day of creativity, learning, and lots of Halloween spirit! 👻🕷️

Terry Fox Run 💙

Our students proudly participated in the Terry Fox Run, coming together to honour Terry’s incredible legacy and his dream of finding a cure for cancer.

Students walked, ran, and cheered each other on as they showed determination, courage, and community spirit. It was a wonderful day of moving together and remembering how one person’s determination can inspire millions. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💙
