Building Structures

Newspaper Towers - Students were given two sheets of newspaper to try and build the tallest freestanding tower possible. They could cut, rip, roll and fold the newspaper. They could not use any tape or glue. The tallest structure was 75 cm. The second challenge was to try to build a second tower with 2 sheets of newspaper and 20 cm of tape. Not only was the tape helpful but the students attempted starting with larger, stronger bases. The tallest structure was 138 cm!
