Philippines
Garland taught us about his birth country the Philippines. We learned that this small country is an island in Southeast Asia. Garland and his family speak English and Tagalog. Thank you in Tagalog is Salamat. We sampled some tasty treats. Salamat Garland!

Mr. Shannon Martin was our guest reader in the library today. Mr. Martin is our local MLA. He works at the Manitoba Legislative Building. He read «We Don’t Eat Our Classmates » and « I Will Never Not Eat A Tomato ». Thank you Mr. Martin!

Canada
Hailey showed us that before the toonie Canadians had a two dollar bill. Did you know Canada is the second largest country?
China
Did you know that the People’s Republic of China was founded on October 1st 1949? Taylor brought a sampling of honey garlic pork to try. Yum! She also brought a little jacket that a little Chinese boy may have worn.

South Africa
Today we learned about South Africa, the most southern country on the continent of Africa. Carson shared with us a doll made out of corn stalks. It was made by a child who was sponsored by a family in Canada. It was sent to Canada over the Atlantic Ocean from Africa.

Russia
Jonathan took us to the world’s largest country, Russia, his family’s country of origin. Did you know that many buildings in Moscow have roofs that look like candy? We enjoyed tasting Russian-style pancakes called blini. They can be topped with something sweet or savoury. Yum!
