Last week, our class went on an exciting field trip to the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach! It was like stepping back in time and getting to see what life was like many years ago.
We explored lots of old houses, barns, churches, and schools. One of the coolest buildings we saw was a grass-roofed semlin! We learned that people used buildings like these for storage and other important jobs.
There were so many interesting things to see outside, too. We saw antique tractors, cars, trucks, and even an old firetruck! It was amazing to see how different vehicles looked compared to the ones we use today.
One of the biggest highlights was getting to climb up on a windmill. We could see so much from up high! It was definitely an experience we won't forget.
Of course, we can't forget the General Store! Getting to go inside and buy candy was a favourite part of the day. There were so many treats to choose from, and it was fun to experience what shopping might have been like in the past.
Our trip to Mennonite Heritage Village was a great way to learn about history while having fun with our classmates. We saw, explored, climbed, and learned so much. It was a field trip we will remember for a long time!
