T.W.A.S.

 T.W.A.S.

This week at school we learned about how the stem is an important part of the plant. We put freshly cut carnations and celery into cups of water mixed with food coloring. Within two hours we noticed that both were changing really fast. We cut open the celery to see the tiny tubes inside that

carry the water to the rest of the plant. The stem also holds up the plant. To learn more about plants we also watched a Bill Nye video. He told us about a plant that eats meat! It's the venus flytrap! He also explained why leaves change color in the fall. They stop making their own food for a while.

We finished our experiment this week. We learned that plants need water, sunlight and air to grow into a healthy plant.

  1. Hi Grade 3/4E,
That looks like a very fun experiment! I didn't realize the carnations would change colour that fast. Keep blogging. I enjoy reading and learning about what you are doing. Happy Thanksgiving!
