Le Festival du Voyageur 2020

Festival du Voyageur  We went to the Festival du Voyageur on Tuesday February 18th. We learned an indigenous song and got to try the drums. Next we went and played in the snow playground and looked at the amazing snow sculptures. The last activity was visiting some of the buildings inside the Fort Gibraltar. This fort is an important part of Manitoba's history of the fur trade. The voyageurs were employed by the Northwest company to transport furs and other goods to Montreal. The fort is located right beside the Red River in St. Boniface, Winnipeg.

Japanese Drumming

We have been fortunate to have had Naomi and Hiroshi from Fubuki Daiko this week teaching us how to drum. The song we were learning is called Galloping Warhorses. Here is a preview of our drumming. Thank you to the Manitoba Arts Council.
