Festival Du Voyageur

Today we went to the Festival du Voyageur. It was so much fun. First we had a horse ride on the field for 15 minutes. After when our horse ride was done we got to pet the horses. The horses names were Sally and Jess. Then we saw ice sculptures. The ice sculptures we saw were mother nature, team of horses, wind and gas station. My favorite ice sculpture was dining table party because it was big and beautiful. After we played some games. The games we played were a canoe relay and a domino game. After we had lunch to warm up because we were frozen COLD. We had lunch in a shack where a fire was lit up. After lunch we went to the winter park were we went sledding. Me and Haylee went sledding together it was so much fun weeeee! Also me and Haylee went tubing. After it was time to go to the tent show. At the tent show we learned some French words like sac à feu (sack) pantalons (pants). Also we made little sacks for fun. After it was time to go back to school we said thank you to our teacher for organizing such a fun trip. My emotions were so happy because this trip was so much fun.

The festival du Voyageur [The hours and cart]

At the festival the first thing we did was go to the horse and cart [ meeting ]. THEN we went on the ride. Some kids almost fell off the edge including me. Then we got to meet the horses. Their names were Sally and Jess. And after we met them we got to pet them for a bit. After meeting the horses we went to the games. Game 1 was called the canoe relay race. The rules were simple: run to the top of the mountain, do five jumping jacks, run back down and say Hé Ho!

We went to the Festival du Voyageur. We saw sculptures and got to ride on the cart that was pulled by horses. We also went to the playground. There was a maze, sledding, tubing, and face cutouts. You stand behind the painted picture and put your face in the hole. We had an activity. We played canoe relay races and dominoes. We went to see a show and learn about voyageur clothing. We build a little bag that made out of fabric and we had to stitch it. The french word for jacket is capot. A ceinture flèchée is a sash. Pantalons are pants. The sculptures were a gas station, team of horses, two hands, mother nature, wind and arctic suns.

Blue Bombers

The Blue Bombers came to our school today to talk to all the students. Moe Leggett, Dominic Picard, Chris Greaves and Rory Kohlert were the football players who came. They talked to us about eating healthy, being active, having dreams, working hard and never giving up! They also brought Buzz and Boomer who were really funny. We got to see the real Grey Cup! Go Blue and Gold!

The Sea
Floating                                                       Dice
Already relaxed                              A square with nothing but dots
Little fish                                        Yellow, green, red and especially white
So colourful they are                      Dots, numbers, tally marks
Oh no!                                             Dice can be anything
A shark!                                          Learning our math
I swim to shore                               Rolling dice
My day at sea is over
