schools and in memory of those who passed. Every Child Matters! 🤗
Terry Fox Run!
We enjoyed this beautiful day running in Terry Fox’s memory. We learned about his determination to run for all Canadians despite his pain and illness. Terry raised $24 million during his Marathon of Hope and since then over $750 million has been raised. Morris School contributed $1475.40 this year!

Student Vote 2021
Canada held a federal election this week and our class got to vote in Student Vote. We learned about different parties, the candidates running and who our leaders are. We looked at some of the leaders’ platforms and talked about how each candidate hopes to make positive changes for Canada.

Hands-on Math!
Sorting, counting, adding and graphing are all made much easier and more fun using cereal! Each student received a bag of Fruity Os to count. We discussed different and more efficient ways of counting such as grouping by tens. We also sorted them by colour in order to graph the results later on. Last we compared our graphs with a partner and discussed how to compare results and how to find out how many more of one colour there were than another. Finally we ate our math snack!
Welcome Back to School
Welcome back to school! We have been getting to know one another and building our classroom community! I’m looking forward to a new year and some return to normal. We were excited to visit the library, the music room and the gym! Next week a few more students will be returning as well! Here’s to a fun filled year of learning 2021-2022!

Beans are growing!
We watched beans sprout in plastic bags! Then we journaled their growth and changes. Next we planted them in soil and are anxiously waiting to see how they grow into mature plants.

Nature Walk
As a wrap-up of our structure unit in science Mr. Ricard took us on a walk of the shelters built by his students in Outdoor Education. We really enjoyed seeing how the structures were built and spending some time in nature! We also found some burrs and plan on seeing if they will grow in soil.

Harvesting our Plants
Our sunflower micro greens have grown so quickly! We harvested our plants and looked at the different parts of the plants. Then it was time to taste test. Some said it tasted like cucumbers or peas. The roots had a milder taste than the leaves. We were also surprised to discover that some plants had very few little roots and other plants had long and loads of them. Our next task is to sprout beans in damp paper towels! We predicted that the roots will grow in 2-3 days.

Earth Day Cleanup!
April 22 is international Earth Day! We spent part of the afternoon outside picking up garbage and shovelling gravel to make our schoolyard look better! We all enjoyed the beautiful weather and doing a little bit for our Earth.
