September 30th is Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is the day we honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and learn more about the history of those schools. We read stories, watched videos and did some writing on this topic. Every Child Matters is the motto of this day. We used this opportunity to talk about inclusion and equality and how we all want to be treated. Each student wrote reasons why they matter on a traced arm and displayed it in the hallway.

3 Act Tasks

Problem solving happens everywhere around us. We watched a video and solved the problem using materials in our classroom.

Counting Collections

One of our math tasks is to count collections. We are looking at more efficient ways to count groups of things. Do you have a collection at home?

September 2020 Welcome Back to School!

School is a bit different this year but many things are the same! We made cards with their birthdays to decorate our classroom birthday wall. We thought it would be fun to wear masks as well :)
